River Light

Early light on the river does something citrus does too: makes everything look freshly rinsed. Sweet orange brings the warmth, bergamot brings the polish — bright but never sharp, cheerful without shouting. The bar for the first-shower-of-the-day people who set the household’s mood whether they mean to or not. Smells like: Sweet orange, bergamot, clean morning. Feels like: First light on the water. Milk, not water. A lot of goat milk soap starts with water and a scoop of powdered milk. Ours never does — fresh Georgia goat milk is the liquid in every batch. That’s the whole secret, and we’ll say it plainly. How to use: Lather, rinse, repeat. Keep it on a draining dish between showers — a dry bar is a long-lived bar.
