Asparagus Fern, One-Off Specimen
Most asparagus ferns sit politely on a shelf. This one did not get the memo. Grown on far beyond the usual nursery size, it has become a soft green cloud — thousands of feathery plumes layered into something closer to sculpture than houseplant. Specimens like this aren't produced to order; they happen slowly, and occasionally one becomes available. This is a one-of-one plant. The photographs show the exact specimen you will receive. Best space & place Bright, indirect light, out of harsh midday sun — a spot near an east- or north-facing window is ideal. The fine foliage loves humidity, so it will be especially happy in a bright kitchen or bathroom, or anywhere away from radiators and dry draughts. Give it room to be seen from the side: the layered plumes are the whole point. When to water & feed Keep the soil lightly moist through the growing season, watering when the top few centimetres feel dry, and ease off in winter. If fronds begin to yellow or shed, it is usually asking for more humidity or more consistent watering. Feed monthly in spring and summer with a general houseplant feed. Delivery & placement Delivered and positioned by the Plant Drop team, supplied in its nursery pot. Our team can advise on decorative pots and placement on delivery. Need to know Despite the name, this is not a true fern — it's a member of the asparagus family, which is what gives it that fine, plumed foliage. It can produce small berries which shouldn't be eaten, so best kept out of reach of curious pets. Speak to our team to view this specimen at our Chelsea showroom.
