Martin 000-16GT | Natural | USA | 2003
This lovely little Martin represents classic Martin look, tone and quality in an economical package. This 000-16GT has stripped back ornamentation. While 000 guitars traditionally have a 24.9” scale neck, this iteration has the longer 25.4” scale like an OM style guitar. This Martin features a solid sitka spruce top and mahogany neck, back and sides. The GT stands for Gloss Top, where as the rest of the instrument bears a satin finish. This guitar has a lovely broken in tone with plenty of projection and surprisingly deep tone for a smaller body instrument. This is likely due to the scalloped bracing and age of the guitar. It has lived much of its life in its case with 2 D’Addario Humidipaks and thus is in very good condition. There are some light surface marks on the top of the instrument, but are only visible under certain light angles. They do not break through the finish. There is slight belly bulge behind the bridge, which is not uncommon for a scalloped guitar of its age. All in all this is a lovely, fine sounding old Martin at a very attractive price point. ______________________________ Brand: Martin Model: 000-16GT Country: USA Year: 2003 Serial: 918XXX Case: OHSC Body: Natural Neck: Natural Finish: Nitro Body Material: Sitka Spruce top/Mahogany back and sides Neck Material: Mahogany Fretboard Material: Micarta Scale Length: 25.4” Frets: 20 Radius: 14” Profile: Shallow C Action (Low E): 3mm Nut: 43.2mm 12th Fret: 54.0mm 1st Fret Depth: 20.2mm 10th Fret Depth: 22.3mm Pickups: N/A Pick Guard: Tortoiseshell Tuners: Martin brand sealed tuners Hardware: Chrome Weight: 1.83kg Mods, Repairs: N/A
