Fiacre: ceramic

Saint Fiacre, the patron saint of gardeners and florists. I’ve captured him in ceramic form with a spade under one arm, a rabbit under the other, and a potted plant clutched to his chest. Down at his feet, a snail is heading towards a bottle of something intended to sustain the man through a long, hard day of weeding. Designed to be either wall hung or free-standing this unique piece is made from a variety of clays coloured with natural oxides. As with all my work it is not glazed. I prefer the lengthy process of waxing and polishing each piece by hand.
