Ask the CEO: Kelli Rhee on Leading John and Laura Arnold’s Giving

Join the Chronicle for a wide-ranging conversation with Arnold Ventures President & CEO Kelli Rhee. We learned how Rhee carries out the vision of Laura and John Arnold, who consistently land on the Chronicle’s annual Philanthropy 50 list of the country’s biggest donors. Rhee explained how the organization seeks out causes that don’t get attention from other philanthropies, such as the work they are now doing with sports betting and the impact gambling addictions can have on men and boys. And she discussed how it gathers data and evidence to design strategies, and how it combines advocacy and charitable giving strategies. Plus, she pointed to how the organization works as it seeks to give away the majority of the Arnolds’ fortune during the founders’ lifetimes.
