Beautiful Antique Japanese Lotus Pedestal Koro Incense Burner

A low-fired ceramic urn formed in the shape of a Buddhist lotus stand decorated with fine polychrome designs in red, blue, green and gold. The basin would have been filled with ash and incense burnt within. A brass lid has been added later, and I personally believe it is not necessary to the work but is included. There is a seal and inscription carved into the base, but it is obscured by glaze and we have been unable to decipher it. It is 17 cm (7 inches) diameter, 15 cm (6 inches) tall. There are chips in the paint on some of the flower petal tips, still is in overall very nice condition, weathered enough to show time and use.
