Bodegas Marta Mate El Holgazan 2024

Bodegas Marta Maté is one of the most exciting young projects in Ribera del Duero, founded on a passion for showcasing the full potential of Tempranillo from high-altitude vineyards. The estate farms organically, with an emphasis on biodiversity and minimal intervention, producing wines that balance elegance, and the classic power of Ribera. This is a modern, vibrant take on Ribera del Duero, made from 100% Tempranillo grown at 900 metres above sea level on clay-limestone soils. The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts before ageing for six months in French oak barrels. The result is a wonderfully expressive red bursting with ripe blackberries, cherries, and plums, layered with hints of violet, spice, and a gentle touch of oak. On the palate it is smooth, fresh, and silky, with well-rounded tannins and a long, balanced finish. Perfect with grilled meats, roast lamb, charcuterie, or hearty vegetarian dishes like lentil stew and roasted aubergine.
