Begonia nigritarum variegata - NurseryRx Original Sport This is a true one-of-a-kind plant and a completely original NurseryRx find. The variegation first appeared spontaneously from a leaf propagation of Begonia nigritarum grown in our greenhouse. The plant offered here is the only pup produced by the original variegated mother plant. Its foliage develops an incredible mix of green, creamy yellow, soft blush and strawberry pink- giving the leaves an almost pink-lemonade appearance. The variegation has continued consistently through new growth and is now repeating in the pup, which is an encouraging indication of stability. However, because this is a newly discovered sport mutation, future variegation and color distribution can never be guaranteed. Before the mutation, Begonia nigritarum was already a beautifully variable rhizomatous species known for its patterned, dark-to-olive foliage, silver markings and reddish tones. It is native to the Philippines, where the species occurs in wet tropical habitats. This is not an imported clone or an established mass-produced cultivar. It originated, developed and was propagated entirely in our own greenhouse. You will receive the exact plant pictured.
