Hvernig fangahús varð stjórnarráðhús

The Prison House at Arnarhóll was built between 1766 and 1771. It was converted into the residence of the Governor of Iceland in 1820, and later into a government office building in 1904. In 1997, architectural and historical research was carried out on the building in preparation for yet another transformation, when the entire building was taken over by the Prime Minister’s Office.
