About the author Botond Bognar holds the Edgar A. Tafel Chair in Architecture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign School of Architecture. For the past 30 years he has been investigating various aspects of Japanese architecture and urbanism; he has published numerous books, essays and articles on the topic.
