Produced in Lyon, France—the historic heart of artisanal textile mastery—by Vangart, an atelier certified as an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (EPV), this edition translates Figgis’s unmistakable aesthetic through a meticulous process involving over 480,000 stitches and a palette of 57 vibrant thread colors. Each piece captures the rich texture and subversive elegance of the artist's original vision. The artwork is presented in a bespoke, unglazed oak frame, ensuring the tactile beauty of the embroidery remains the focus. Each piece is signed by the artist on the reverse and individually numbered on an inset metallic plate. Genieve Figgis (b. 1972, Dublin) is renowned for her uncanny ability to subvert traditional narratives through a lens of 'psychedelic rococo.' Her works, held in several important public and private collections worldwide, balance whimsical charm with a lingering, subversive mystery. This collaboration with Almine Rech Editions marks a significant moment for collectors, translating her fluid, masterful paint-handling into a sophisticated textile medium that preserves every nuance of her singular vision. Released in conjunction with 'Drama Club,' Genieve Figgis’ ninth solo exhibition with the gallery, on view in Monaco from April 14 to September 25, 2026.
