The coffee beans transported to the washing station come from four neighboring villages where cooperative members reside: Makonga, Mtwara, Kirosa, and Kioka. Before processing, the coffee cherries undergo flotation grading; unripe cherries float to the surface and are removed. After removing the outer pulp, the beans ferment for 1-2 days to break down the thick pectin. The remaining pulp is then rinsed off through water tanks and transported to elevated drying racks, where they are completely dried for 2-3 weeks. The region has an average altitude of approximately 1500 meters, and the farmers primarily cultivate the Bourbon coffee variety.
