Tiger's Eye Stone Box

A stylish box made from Tiger's Eye with particularly defined bands of colour running through the stone. Originally used as a cigarette box, a gilt metal hinge joins the top and bottom sections. Unusually, the spectacular lining and base to this box is a quartzite stone that is particularly decorative. Tiger's Eye is a member of the quartz family of rocks that polishes to a glossy lustre and has a holographic quality. This gemstone is great for decorative pieces due to the fact that it is relatively hard. The colouration of Tiger's Eye typically includes strips, lines and veins of colour in beautiful shades of honey, rich yellow and various shades of brown.
