By Brooke Sutton Age – 20 years Size – 60cm wide X 60cm high Medium – Acrylic and textured acrylic on canvas The budgerigar - Tjinparra My name is Brooke Sutton and I am a contemporary Indigenous artist from the Kalkadoon people from the Mount Isa area in Queensland. This painting is called ‘Tjinparra’ in the Kalkadoon language which means ‘The Budgerigar’. This painting tells the story of the budgerigar, as the first light of dawn touches the land, the budgie greets the day with a joyful song, her vibrant feathers glowing in the morning sun. Perched among the branches, her music dances on the breeze, a melody of happiness and harmony. Her voice, full of life, blends with the rhythms of nature, reminding us to embrace each new day with hope and gratitude. A song my people have heard since the beginning of time.
