SORLOCK™ Thermostat Probe Mount SENSORLOCK™ is a clean, secure way to mount thermostat probes inside PVC reptile enclosures. Instead of relying on tape, suction cups, zip ties, silicone, or loose probe placement, SENSORLOCK™ holds the probe in a fixed horizontal position so the sensor stays where it belongs: in the heat path for more consistent temperature readings. It installs through a standard 3/8-inch drilled hole (BlackBox does not drill for these), tightens by hand with no hardware or adhesives, and is designed to keep the probe stable even when animals move around the enclosure. SENSORLOCK™ is a thermostat probe mounting device designed for PVC reptile enclosures. It holds the thermostat probe securely in a fixed horizontal position so the sensor stays properly placed for more reliable temperature monitoring. Why do I need a thermostat probe holder? A thermostat can only control heat accurately if the probe stays in the correct position. Loose probes, dangling cords, suction cups, tape, zip ties, and silicone can shift or fail over time. SENSORLOCK™ removes that guesswork by locking the probe in place. How does SENSORLOCK™ work? SENSORLOCK™ uses a threaded stem and collar system. The probe cord passes through the mount, the stem goes through a 3/8-inch hole in the enclosure wall, and the collar tightens by hand to hold everything securely in place. Does it require tools to install? You only need a standard 3/8-inch wood drill bit to drill the hole. SENSORLOCK™ itself is tightened by hand. Do not use tools to tighten it, because overtightening can damage the threads. Where should I place the probe? For radiant heat panels, place the probe horizontally in the heat path, at least 4–6 inches below the surface of the heat panel. The sensor tip should remain unobstructed and should not be pressed into substrate, decor, or an area where the animal regularly rests directly on it. What thermostats does it work with? SENSORLOCK™ is compatible with probes that have a sensor tip up to 3/8-inch diameter and a cord up to 4.1 mm diameter. It is compatible with many common probe thermostats, including Herpstat, Vivarium Electronics, Inkbird, Zoo Med, and others that meet those probe dimensions. Will it work with every thermostat probe? No. It will only work with probes that fit the required dimensions: sensor tip up to 3/8 inch and cord up to 4.1 mm. Can reptiles break it? SENSORLOCK™ is made from TPU, which was selected because it flexes instead of cracking under pressure. It is designed to tolerate heavy-bodied reptiles climbing on or putting pressure against the probe better than rigid materials. Is it 3D printed? Yes. Current SENSORLOCK™ parts are 3D printed in TPU. Injection molding may come later, but the current version is produced on a small dedicated print farm. Can I use it with glass enclosures? SENSORLOCK™ is intended for PVC reptile enclosures where a clean 3/8-inch hole can be drilled. Do not attempt to drill tempered glass. Can I use it with screen tops? SENSORLOCK™ is for mounting thermostat probes through an enclosure wall. It is not a screen-top accessory. Does it come in different colors? Yes. SENSORLOCK™ is available in black and white.
