Stories of Old Hawaiʻi

The collection includes creation myths and stories about the people of old Hawai‘i—their relationships with their gods and with each other, their ways of making a living from the land and from the sea, the value they placed on crafts, weapons and warfare, sports and games, music and dance. As these stories inform the reader about life in old Hawai‘i, they entertain as well. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Roy Kākulu Alameida was born in Kamananui and grew up in Mokulē‘ia, O‘ahu. A graduate of Kamehameha Schools, he holds a master's degree in Hawaiian history from the University of Hawai‘i-Mānoa. He is currently a Hawaiian Resource Specialist with Hawaiian Studies Institute at Kamehameha Schools Bishop Estate.
