Black Tea Assam OP1 Organic
Organic Assam OP1 Black Tea is a premium whole-leaf black tea grown in the Assam region in north-eastern India. Renowned for its rich malty character, deep amber liquor, and smooth full-bodied flavour, Assam tea is one of the world’s most celebrated black tea varieties. This OP1 grade features carefully selected long, wiry leaves that produce a refined and satisfying cup with classic strength and depth. Plant Description Derived from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant, Assam black tea is cultivated in the warm, humid climate and fertile river plains surrounding the Brahmaputra Valley. The OP1 (Orange Pekoe 1) grade refers to a high-quality orthodox whole-leaf tea consisting of elongated leaves with a neat, even appearance. Once harvested, the leaves are traditionally withered, rolled, oxidised, and dried to develop Assam tea’s signature bold flavour and rich aroma. Traditional Uses Black tea has been enjoyed for centuries across many cultures as a daily beverage and social ritual. Assam tea, in particular, is prized for its robust flavour, invigorating character, and suitability as both a morning tea and a strong afternoon brew. Traditionally enjoyed plain or with milk, Assam tea also forms the foundation of many classic breakfast tea blends and spiced chai preparations.
