About the album For Spirited Away, Miyazaki gave Joe Hisaishi something different from a script: short, poem-like notes about the film's world and characters, from the river Chihiro fell into as a child to the bathhouse of the gods and Haku, the white dragon. Hisaishi turned each into a piece of music and brought in a variety of performers, making this one of his most varied image albums. You can hear the film's sound taking shape here, from the gentle "Ano Hi no Kawa e" (To the River of That Day) to "The White Dragon" and "Chihiro's Waltz." In 2020, Studio Ghibli Records remastered the album and released it on vinyl for the first time, alongside the Spirited Away soundtrack and the Howl's Moving Castle albums.
