Engineering-grade nylon built for strong, durable, functional parts. Matter3D Performance Nylon is a premium unfilled PA6/66 filament engineered for applications where toughness, impact resistance, wear resistance, and long-term durability matter. Manufactured in Victoria, British Columbia, Matter3D’s PA6/66 formulation uses a nucleated resin system designed to improve dimensional stability and reduce shrinkage compared with conventional nylon. The result is a high-performance material well suited to functional prototypes, mechanical components, moving assemblies, jigs, fixtures, and end-use parts. Unlike carbon-fibre-filled nylon, the unfilled formulation retains greater flexibility and impact toughness, making it particularly well suited to gears, bushings, pulleys, snap-fits, living hinges, and other components that experience repeated movement or impact. Key Features High Strength & Toughness – Excellent mechanical performance for demanding functional parts Excellent Impact Resistance – Unfilled formulation maintains greater toughness and flexibility Wear & Abrasion Resistant – Ideal for gears, bushings and moving components Excellent Fatigue Resistance – Well suited to parts subjected to repeated loading or movement Improved Dimensional Stability – Nucleated PA6/66 formulation helps reduce shrinkage and warping Heat Resistant – Heat deflection temperature of approximately 90–95°C Low-Friction Performance – Excellent choice for mechanical and moving assemblies Canadian Made – Compounded and extruded by Matter3D in Victoria, British Columbia Recommended Applications Functional prototypes Gears, bushings and pulleys Living hinges Snap-fit components Mechanical assemblies Wear-resistant parts Low-friction moving components Industrial jigs and fixtures Durable end-use parts Robotics and mechanical projects Technical Specifications Material: PA6/PA66 Nylon Blend Tensile Strength: 75–90 MPa Impact Strength: 15 J/m Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT): 90–95°C Recommended Nozzle Temperature: 260–285°C Recommended Bed Temperature: 70–100°C Recommended Chamber Temperature: 40–70°C Recommended Print Speed: 40–70 mm/s Cooling: Off or below 20% Enclosure: Strongly recommended Drying & Printing Nylon is highly hygroscopic and will readily absorb moisture from the air. Drying before printing is strongly recommended for optimal surface finish, layer adhesion and mechanical performance. Matter3D recommends drying at 70°C for 6–8 hours before printing. For best results, print in an enclosed machine and use a nylon-compatible build surface or adhesive such as PA glue, Garolite (G10/FR4), or Magigoo PA. Unfilled Nylon vs. Carbon Fibre Nylon Choose Performance Nylon Unfilled when toughness, impact resistance, fatigue resistance and some flexibility are the priority. For applications requiring significantly greater stiffness, dimensional stability or higher temperature capability, consider Matter3D Performance Nylon High Temperature Carbon Fibre instead.
