Sigvaldi Thordarson (1911–1964) was one of the most important artists of his generation and one of Iceland’s best-known postwar architects. In this book, architect Albína Thordarson recounts the story of her father and his work as she herself experienced it. Her unique account sheds light on a little-explored chapter in the development of twentieth-century architecture in Iceland, bringing together father and daughter, Sigvaldi and Albína, two of the leading architects of their generation. The book is a collaborative work by Albína and architect Pétur H. Ármannsson, who contributes the foreword and a chapter on Sigvaldi’s formative years and his architectural education.
