Watco 4 Hour Epoxy Primer
Watco 4 Hour Epoxy Primer prepares porous concrete floors for an epoxy coating. Its penetrating, two-part formulation reduces suction, binds friable surfaces and helps prevent air bubbles in the finish. Supplied with resin and curing agent, it allows priming and coating within the same working day. Fast-curing epoxy primer for internal floors. Virtually solvent free, high-solids formulation. Strengthens weak surface material before painting. Clear finish; may darken some substrates slightly. Technical Data Pack size 5L Suitable substrates Bare porous concrete, sand and cement screeds, bricks and blockwork Coats 1 Minimum temperature Air: 15°C; floor: 10°C Pot life Up to 20 minutes at 20°C Concrete moisture Below 75% RH Coverage Smooth concrete: approximately 20m² per 5L (4m²/L). Acid-etched concrete: approximately 15m² per 5L. Shot-blasted or open-textured concrete: approximately 12.5m² per 5L. Porosity affects consumption. The calculator uses the smooth-concrete rate; allow more material for absorbent surfaces. Directions for Use Remove loose material, contamination and laitance. Clean and degrease as required, rinse and let the floor dry thoroughly. Allow new concrete to dry for approximately eight weeks. Stir both components, combine the complete pack and mix to a uniform consistency. Immediately transfer to a tray or scuttle: mixed primer left in the tin can become dangerously hot. Work one coat into the surface with a medium-pile roller; use a brush at edges. Provide good ventilation. Overcoat when touch dry, generally after 4–8 hours, and within 48 hours. Lightly abrade if the interval is exceeded. LimitationsFor indoor, porous substrates only. Apply to a dry surface, following the technical sheet. Store at 15–25°C for at least eight hours before use and protect from frost. Unopened shelf life: 24 months. Read both safety sheets before handling. Product FAQsWhat surfaces can I prime? Use on bare, porous concrete, sand and cement screeds, bricks and blockwork indoors. It is unsuitable for non-porous surfaces. How much will a 5L pack cover? Allow approximately 20m² on smooth concrete, 15m² on acid-etched concrete or 12.5m² on shot-blasted/open-textured concrete. Actual coverage depends on porosity. When can I apply the floor coating? The product is designed for same-day priming and coating. Follow the technical sheet: overcoat when touch dry, generally 4–8 hours, and within 48 hours. Lightly abrade if this window is exceeded. Can I apply it to damp concrete? Follow the technical sheet and apply to a dry surface. Concrete moisture must be below 75% RH. The primer relies on penetration into the substrate. How long can I use the mixed primer? Use immediately after mixing and transfer into a paint tray or scuttle. Pot life is up to 20 minutes at 20°C. Do not leave mixed material in the mixing tin, where it can heat rapidly. What temperatures are needed? The technical sheet specifies a minimum air temperature of 15°C and floor temperature of 10°C. Provide good ventilation. Data SheetsTechnical Data Sheet Safety Data Sheet – Curing Agent (GB) Safety Data Sheet – Resin (GB) Safety Data Sheet – Curing Agent (GBNI) Safety Data Sheet – Resin (GBNI)
