2019 Giuseppe Quintarelli Valpolicella Classico Superiore, Veneto, Italy

Giuseppe Quintarelli is the benchmark estate of Valpolicella, run by the Quintarelli family from the hills above Negrar and known for its handwritten labels and patient, long-aged wines. The Valpolicella Classico Superiore is made from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella. Half the grapes are pressed after harvest and half are dried for two months; the wine is later racked onto the lees of the estate's Amarone for a second fermentation (ripasso), then aged for seven years in large Slavonian oak barrels.
