The Puppetmaster Bob Baker founded the Bob Baker Marionette Theater in Los Angeles in 1963. He started his career as a puppeteer early, making marionettes at his home studio when he was 19 years old. After high school, Bob was an apprentice at George Pal Animation Studio which resulted in a promotion to head animator of Puppetoons, a landmark studio that produced animated stop-motion puppet films. Later he and his partner Alton Wood founded the original marionette theater in downtown Los Angeles. At that time Bob was working as an animation advisor to Disney and many other film studios and his puppetry work was widely used in both film and television. You may have seen his work in films like: Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, A Star is Born (1954) and Star Trek, and so many more. The Bob Baker Marionette Theater is a magical and unforgettable place, in their own words, “Bob Baker Marionette Theater sees the world as a Birthday Cake: Baked with care, Frosted with imagination and intent, Served across generations as a sanctuary of sweet, Sprinkled with a little stardust, a living theater of whipped cream over delight!"
