The Art Within: A Mother’s Guide to Beginning Narration

In The Art Within, Sheila Carroll offers mothers a warm, practical guide to beginning narration in a Charlotte Mason homeschool. Drawing on more than twenty years of helping mothers and children, she walks alongside you as you begin: choosing a short, engaging reading; listening to your child’s account; and giving this new habit room to take root. Inside, you’ll find friendly, practical help for: Beginning oral narration with short, engaging readings Listening with interest and giving your child room to tell, without turning the reading into a quiz Moving gradually from oral narration to dictated and written narration Getting started with an older child who is new to narration Meeting those first attempts with patience as your child finds his words This concise guide is for the mother who is just discovering Charlotte Mason, and for the mother who is ready to begin again after a difficult start. You don’t need to have everything figured out. Bring a good book, a little time, and a willingness to learn alongside your child. Narration can grow into a natural and meaningful part of your days together.
