Bahr-e-Neel Handwoven Fabric Fabric Width: 36 Inches What am I? I am Bahr-e-Neel, a Handwoven fabric. Bahr-e-Neel means “the sea of indigo”. In the old havelis, the windows were carved into jaali and the walls were tiled in blue, and the women of the house sat in their shade on long afternoons, embroidering the same flowers that bloomed in the garden outside. Bahr-e-Neel gathers those afternoons: a deep indigo-blue ground framed with white lattice, flowering vines and delicate Mughal blooms, as calm and endless as the sea. The cotton is soft and graceful, made for days that ask for quiet elegance. About my fabric. I was made with 100% fine cotton making me a breathable fabric. How I was woven? I was hand-woven by plain yardage technique What's Unique about me? My Fabric is created using plain Hand-weave technique which means that the weaver weaves each thread by his hand. What is the width of my fabric? The width of my fabric is 36 Inches About my colors. Do not worry! I will not loose my colors, I am yarn-dyed by OEKO-TEX® certified dyes, which makes me more comfortable and irritation free, which means that I'll never harm your skin. My Weaver. I was woven by Voile's master artisan "Yusuf" Yusuf (Aged 59) migrated with his family from India in 1973 and started working alongside his father from the age of 10 in their family-run business, but due to this art vanishing from Pakistan, they couldn’t run their business at a profitable level and thus, ended up shutting down. Yusuf is one of those talented hand-weavers who believe that this art will eventually become extinct in the upcoming generation, hence his children won’t adopt this art and focus on other fields, however he wishes to pass this unique art to them. Saving the art Voile and its master artisans are vigorously working to breathe life into the art of hand-weave, we hope that by promoting this art to our valuable customers the next generation of our artisans might carry on the tradition of hand-weave.
