Opening Exhibit: California Girl by Suze Riley

Please join us for the opening exhibition of California Girl by Suze Riley, an art show presented by MMclay. California Girl is a show of brand new works at MMclay celebrating the nostalgia & memories of packaged food. Suze wanted to create a collection to connect with the values and story of MMclay, and the beautiful ceramic works that have been integral to countless special memories of bringing people together through food in San Francisco and beyond. Along with her love of old signage, Suze has always been drawn to the visual language of old food packaging and advertising. She has vivid memories from childhood, her uncle’s collection of old fruit pastille tins that he used to store screws and nails, the joy of digging in a box of Frosties for a free Tony the Tiger toy, and the glamorous treat of slicing into a Walls’ Vienetta. For this collection, Suze asked friends and connections in San Francisco who work in the worlds of art and food to share their favourite nostalgic packaged foods, and the stories and memories connected to them.
