What an incredible master piece. This 'Jun Zhu' (Noble Bamboo) teapot is made by Yixing-certified artist Jiang Wei (蒋伟). It combines the classic Hehuan shape with the bamboo elements. Hand-crafted from precious Benshan green clay, it's a rare collector’s item that offers high performance for tea brewing. With a capacity of 140ml, it is an ideal size for concentrated gongfu tea service, and it's its built-in 7-hole filter offers a reliable water pour. Highly recommend for: green tea, light oolong tea (e.g. Tie Guan Yin), or raw pu erh tea. Hehuan Shape & Bamboo Design This teapot design harmonizes two famous traditions to create a balanced aesthetic. The Hehuan (Joyful Union) base is a round vessel type that symbolizes universal joy, harmony, and happiness. Inspired by the sound of cymbals at a celebration, the shape is intended to add a festive atmosphere to gatherings. Its most defining feature is the teapot body: it's composed of two halves joined together, as if two bowls were placed mouth-to-mouth, forming a distinct waistline. The top half flares outward into broad shoulders, while the bottom half tapers downward. While the body follows the Hehuan form, the lid knob and handle feature the “Floral Sculpture” style of the classic Zhugu (Bamboo Drum) teapot. The handle and bridge-shaped lid knob are sculpted into realistic bamboo joints, representing strength and life. This combination creates a “Gentleman” character, balancing the soft curves of the body with the strong spirit of the bamboo. Green Clay & Polished Surface This teapot is made of authentic Benshan green clay from Huanglong Mountain. This is a rare clay, difficult to mine and highly precious. While the raw ore is greyish-white, it turns into a sophisticated Champagne beige color after firing. The surface also features dark specks as a result of the iron content in the clay. This gives the teapot a sand-like appearance. The surface is slightly glossy, because the outside of the teapot was smoothened (上明针) utilising slices of polished buffalo horn before oven-firing. The piece was high-temperature fired at 1200°C to 1250°C for a crisp, durable finish and low deformation. The physical properties of this green clay is relatively porous, providing excellent moisture retention and superior breathability.
