Hiroshi Goseki Hiyama Bizen chawan Emerald flowsion
A Bizen chawan by Goseki Hiroshi, a ceramic artist working in Ibaraki Prefecture. Hiyama is the name of the area in Ibaraki where the artist is currently based. On the front of this chawan, a faint green born from ash-glaze kiln effects is overlaid with flowing golden glaze, creating a beautiful landscape together with the fired expression of the exposed clay. As the bowl is turned, the vivid scarlet kiln effects characteristic of Bizen appear, giving the work an impression that is both powerful and serene. The interior also reveals ash-glaze firing effects, forming a green, void-like scenery within the bowl. The subtle wavering of the rim and the softness of the form are also among its highlights. This work bears the poetic title “Emerald Flowsion.” Width 12.9cm/Height 9.5cm With the original signed wooden box and matching cloth.
