The Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2023 shows a deep, saturated ruby-purple colour, signalling serious concentration. The nose is complex, opening with black cherry, cassis, and blackberry, followed by violet, dried rose, and sweet spice, before unfolding into deeper savoury notes of sous-bois, truffle, iron, and damp stone. With air, darker layers of chocolate, espresso, tobacco, and limestone minerality emerge. The palate is broad and authoritative, with dense fruit supported by powerful yet finely grained tannins and a perfectly balanced acidity. The structure is firm and architectural without heaviness. The finish is very long, evolving from fruit to spice to savoury, stony depth. A serious Grand Cru built for long ageing.
