Dolce Far Niente Penny

Dolce far niente is an Italian phrase meaning "the sweetness of doing nothing." The inscription appears on the heads side of this penny in a hand-drawn script inspired by the café signs of the Amalfi Coast, where I acquired my first wax seal. On the reverse is a classical urn overflowing with lemons and olive branches. The urn represents abundance and the things we choose to preserve. The lemons symbolize vitality, hospitality, and transformation. The olive branch has long been associated with peace, endurance, and wisdom. Together, these symbols celebrate a life that makes room for both joy and contentment. Designed for summer 2026, this penny is a reminder to slow down, savor the season, and appreciate the simple pleasures that make life rich.
