Aeon Core is Dan Clark Audio's most accessible flagship โ the direct successor to the Aeon 2, years in development, and tuned to a new corrected reference target developed alongside Dr. Sean Olive. Bold new aluminum and wood aesthetic. Closed-back. Planar magnetic. Hand-built in San Diego. The entry point to reference DCA performance at $899.99. A New Driver, Built for Efficiency Aeon Core's planar magnetic driver was engineered around three priorities: efficiency, sonic excellence, and affordable manufacturing. The result is Dan Clark Audio's most easily driven headphone to date. At 97 dB/mW sensitivity, Aeon Core pairs comfortably with portable DAC/amps, dongles, and desktop gear alike. Amplifiers delivering at least 125 mW into 16 ohms are sufficient โ additional power is welcome but not required. This means the Aeon Core works beautifully with an iFi GO bar Kensei on the go, or a ZEN CAN 3 on your desk โ no need for a powerful headphone amplifier to get the best out of it. A Better Reference โ Tuned to the Corrected Harman Target Aeon Core's tuning is grounded in a corrected version of the Harman over-ear target โ one that Dan Clark developed alongside Dr. Sean Olive in 2025. The original Harman curve was derived using a custom measurement pinna unavailable to anyone else, meaning all prior measurements contained a small but consistent error. Clark and Olive published an AES paper with a corrected curve that reflects the measurement system used by audio professionals worldwide. The practical effect: a slightly warmer midrange. Vocals are forward without hardness. Strings have a lush, organic texture. The overall experience is musical, engaging, and fun across a wide range of genres โ without sacrificing accuracy. Comfort Without Compromise Aeon Core retains the physical design cues found throughout DCA's lineup: signature Aeon earpads, titanium headband, and self-adjusting suspension strap. The fit is ergonomic and fatigue-free for hours of listening. The bold new aluminum and wood cup aesthetic is a significant visual departure โ darker, more refined, and unmistakably new.
