Just, grassroots-led and inclusive energy transition in Bolivia

The report highlights how, in Bolivia, the energy transformation the country needs is emerging from communities, through local initiatives that create jobs, strengthen economies, and build autonomy. These experiences —ranging from the use of bioenergy in the Altiplano to solar agroecological systems— show that a just, grassroots-led and inclusive energy transition is driven by the active participation of civil society and public policies that respond to territorial realities. The document emphasizes that this transition will only be possible if it overcomes energy poverty, guarantees the right to access energy without harming nature, and places women at the center of energy governance and management. With an approach that brings together social justice, environmental sustainability, and citizen participation, the report argues that communities are the true drivers of a transformative energy shift in Bolivia.
