Rings from the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s fine jewelry collection have become increasingly difficult to find, particularly examples produced in solid gold, such as this one. The design of this ring draws inspiration from ancient and classical jewelry and the result is a jewel embodied by a wonderfully sculptural and architectural quality. The setting has an ancient, handmade quality which frames the emerald beautifully and gives the piece a striking presence on the hand. The emerald displays the rich green color and the famous "jardin"-filled interior so beloved in natural emeralds. An unusual and highly collectible vintage ring with timeless historical appeal.
