A fantastic gray tinged white marble horse carved rearing up by Andres Lementino. The horse is mounted to a white marble arrowhead - thanks to the hind legs and tail. There are incised lines on the fantastic wavy mane as well as the tail. Andres has inlaid his unique double Zuni sun face on the left side of the horse's throat - utilizing bits of coral, sodalite, turquoise, jet and mother-of-pearl. There is also a new style bear paw inlaid to the left hind leg featuring bits of gold-lip, orange and red spiny oyster with turquoise claws. The sun face is an ancient symbol in Zuni culture, representing the sacred sun father. The symbol's round motif depicts the Sun with a forehead split down the middle to reflect the eternal balance between sunrise and sunset. The horse represents the power of the animal world literally "harnessed" for the benefit of the human race. Horse medicine calls the self to expand one's own potential abilities, tethering control of the environment, inter-species communication and offers humankind a good example of cooperation. The Zuni believe the horse has healing powers. A horse rears up to escape a situation it feels it cannot handle. This usually stems from fear, pain, pent-up energy, or defiance. Tt is a natural defense mechanism used to evade perceived threats or relieve intense pressure. Artist: Andres Lementino (signed) Size: 1 in. wide x 2-3/4 in. long x 4-1/4 in. tall #64725
