For a small-town ballpark, the roster ran remarkably deep in future talent — Ken Griffey Jr. opened his professional career in Bellingham in 1987, and Edgar Martinez, Omar Vizquel and Tino Martinez all passed through the franchise on their way up through the minor leagues. Seattle ended its Bellingham relationship after the 1994 season and shifted its short-season affiliation south to Everett, closing out the Mariners era at Joe Martin Field. The combination of an intimate Northwest League park and a parade of eventual big-league stars has made Bellingham one of the most fondly remembered short-season stops of its era.
