A stunning set of dining chairs attributed to John Tabraham for Kallenbach, where proportion, material, and restraint come together with effortless clarity. Crafted in Sapele mahogany, the chairs draw you in through their rich, even grain and softly rounded form: refined, light in presence, and beautifully balanced. The gently curved ladder backs and slender frames create an elegant silhouette, while the newly upholstered seats in a textured neutral Hertex fabric introduce a soft, contemporary contrast to the warmth of the timber. Two carvers anchor the set at the ends, adding both presence and practicality. Fully restored, stripped, sanded, and resealed, the timber has been brought back to its full depth and tone. It presents beautifully, with only subtle, age-consistent signs remaining. Though sold as a set, the chairs work out to around R3 400 each, a well-considered price for a beautifully restored set.
