Lemania Chronograph — radium snail tachymeter dial, calibre 15TL
Lemania occupies a singular position in the history of Swiss chronograph movements. The manufacture from Le Solliat supplied ébauches to Patek Philippe, Omega, and the British Ministry of Defence — a roster that speaks for itself. The calibre 15TL is among its most celebrated: a single-button chronograph movement of the 1940s, robust, precise, and finished with the care of a manufacture that knew exactly who its clients were. The dial is the event. Black, with a snail-pattern tachymeter scale — concentric arcs radiating from the centre in the characteristic escargot configuration — and large Arabic numerals in radium lume that have aged to a warm, golden tone entirely consistent with their era. A telemeter scale runs the outer periphery, adding a further layer of functional density to a composition that rewards close attention. Two subdials complete the layout: running seconds and 30-minute counter, their white hands sitting cleanly against the dark surface. The steel case presents unpolished, its original profile intact, the olive pushers and crown retaining their period character. The domed crystal catches the light exactly as it should. A Lemania chronograph with a dial this complete and this well-preserved is not an everyday encounter.
