From our Vintage Collection, this handcrafted brass vessel was traditionally used for storing Gangajal—holy water from the sacred River Ganges (Ganga), which originates from the Gangotri Glacier in the Himalayas (“Jal” meaning water). Such vessels were historically carried by Hindu priests and sadhus, who undertook arduous pilgrimages to the source of the Ganges to collect this spiritually pure water. The Gangajal was then brought back to their villages and towns, where it was sprinkled during prayers, rituals, and festive occasions as a blessing believed to purify and cleanse. According to ancient Hindu scriptures, the mere touch, sight, or even remembrance of the Ganges is said to wash away sins, while bathing in its waters is believed to bestow divine blessings. This piece features a classic rounded form with a lid and handle, and a naturally aged patina that reflects its vintage character. Both functional and symbolic, it makes a meaningful addition to a home altar, a collector’s shelf, or as a unique décor accent. Measurements: Height: 17 cm Circumference: 39 cm Weight: 950 grams A beautiful representation of India’s spiritual heritage—rich in history, purpose, and timeless craftsmanship.
