Custom Made 1940s Silk Velvet w/ Silk Chiffon Evening Gown & Shawl

Let me start off by saying, when I came across this piece, I could not believe that it was vintage. It has been so beautifully preserved, and the colors are so incredibly rich. It is absolutely bonkers mind blowing- like silver screen worthy! Original custom made 1940s sumptuous deep fuchsia/orchid silk velvet with silk chiffon detailing evening gown with matching silk chiffon shawl. Mint condition, size small to medium. I’m a 32DDD with translates to a 36 bust in clothing, this piece accommodates me pretty much perfectly, but measures a 34/35” bust, a 26-28” waist pulled taught, free hips, and 58” total length. Completely hand made, hand stitching throughout. Please see my previous video for a walk-through of the entire inside of the dress, it’s amazing. Fully lined bodice with built-in structural boning, inner satin waist tape, thin metal side zipper with hook and eye closures. The neck line is hand embellished with glass seed beads that match the hand beaded firework bouquet detail on the hip. Large faceted glass cabochons in amethyst and clear crystal. Metallic gold thread. The draping detail on the skirt is absolutely genius, with a silk chiffon accordion pleated tri-color ruffle that juts out over the side leg. The skirt is extremely full and cut on the bias, with inverted pleat draping in the back to create even more of a fishtail hem. I’m telling you, the construction on this piece is amazing. The color of the silk velvet is the deepest shade of fuchsia/orchid purple that absolutely glows in person. It is a cool tone, no red at all. The accordion silk chiffon on the bodice and the skirt and the matching shawl are a cool baby pink with a lilac purple with an orchid purple. Truly stunning in person. I could just go on and on about this ensemble. A must for the discerning 1940s collector.
