Born in 1919, Peress was orphaned at age two and raised in an orphanage. In 1939, he was incorporated into the 9th Regiment. Subjects in his portfolio include Parisian scenes (such as Notre-Dame de Paris), coastal landscapes (temps d'orage en bord de côte), and still lifes (including still life at glass of red wine and packet of Gauloises).
