Vintage Mens 1960s/70s 1930s Style 3 Piece Tweed Suit Action Back Belt Jacket Plus Fours & Trousers

An intriguing vintage 1930s inspired sporting suit set comprising action-back jacket, plus fours & straight trousers which appears to have been made circa late 1960s or early 1970s, although it may be a slightly younger combination of period styles. Made from a medium weight 100% wool tweed in a houndstooth check in mixed greens & brown by 'James Pringle Ltd.', certainly the weavers but not necessarily also the suit maker. The jacket is single breasted with 3 button fastening, has fairly slim lapels, lightly padded shoulders, shoulder yoke & back belt with deep vertical pleats between; fully lined in brownish acetate with 1 inside breast & 1 large poacher's pockets, sleeves lined in ivory acetate. The plus fours & trousers are both full cut & quite wide in the leg, have a high rise, double forward pleats, waistband with side button adjusters, braces buttons, early nylon coil 'Opti' zip fly, 2 side & 1 rear pockets; the plus fours have leather tabs & chrome buckles at the hems, the trousers are plain hems with no cuffs. No makers labels other than the attractive pictorial one, only some hand written cutter tags in the pockets which give no clue to date or maker. NB Accessories not included. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed but not cleaned.
