An icon in every sense, Marilyn Monroe is captured here in one of her most recognisable moments - a presence that continues to define glamour, confidence and timeless appeal. Vince Edmunds recreates her in his signature medium of glue chipped glass, elevating the portrait through both material and detail. The piece is created in 4mm float glass and gilded with three distinct tones of gold leaf: 22ct rose gold for the dress, 24ct pure gold for the face, body and arms, and 18ct lemon gold for the hair. This layering of gold creates both contrast and depth, allowing the figure to stand forward with clarity and warmth. In addition to this, crystals have been carefully set into the earrings, belt clasp and beauty spot. As these elements are mounted to the front of the piece, the artwork is presented behind 2mm art glass - an anti-reflective glass specifically used for fine artworks. The piece is framed in a satin black frame with a gold sight line, complementing the richness of the gold leaf and reinforcing the presence of the portrait. This piece is limited to a run of only 5 editions worldwide. Due to the nature of the glue chipped glass process, each work will carry a unique pattern, ensuring every piece within the edition remains entirely individual.
