Hellyers Road Dark FOMO is the fifth release in the Dark Harmony series — a collaboration between Hellyers Road and Communion Brewing Co. timed to coincide with Tasmania’s gloriously unhinged Dark Mofo festival, and arguably the release that leans hardest into its muse. Eight years in first fill American oak ex-bourbon casks, finished in American oak casks seasoned with Communion’s Baltic Porter Beer, and married on 23 April 2026. Deep chocolate and coffee lifted by fizzy lemonade and raspberry jam croissant on the nose; robust toasted oak, dark chocolate, roasted malts, a whisper of smoke, and coffee-caramel confectionery on the palate; a lingering complexity that invites further exploration on the finish. From the split label and dripping black wax to the red cross, every detail has been built to sit at a long table in the dark, surrounded by the weird and the strange. Miss this one and the FOMO will be real. Tasting Notes Appearance Deep, dark amber — the rich, dramatic colour of an 8-year-old Tasmanian single malt finished in Baltic Porter beer casks, with the depth and intensity that first fill American oak ex-bourbon maturation and a festival-inspired aesthetic demand. Aroma Deep notes of chocolate and coffee are lifted by fizzy lemonade and raspberry jam croissant — a complex, surprising, and genuinely distinctive bouquet that rewards time in the glass, revealing a subtle earthiness that adds layers of complexity. Dark Mofo in a nosing glass. Palate Robust intensity across the palate — toasted oak, dark chocolate, and roasted malts, with a whisper of smoke adding depth alongside coffee-caramel confectionery notes. The Baltic Porter cask finish adds a dark, malty richness that makes this the most distinctive Dark Harmony release yet. Pairs With A natural companion for dark chocolate, espresso, smoked meats, aged hard cheeses, and a long table in the dark surrounded by the weird and the strange — Dark FOMO is best savoured neat, slowly, allowing the full complexity of 8 years of oak maturation and Baltic Porter cask finishing to reveal itself. A lingering complexity that invites further exploration. Finish A lingering complexity that invites further exploration — the long, dark, and deeply satisfying close of a Tasmanian single malt that has earned every note of its festival-inspired character.
