Clos du Mont-Olivet Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2023 A benchmark Châteauneuf from one of the appellation's great traditionalist families — elegance over muscle, terroir over theatre. Grape Varietals & Region: 75% Grenache Noir, 10% Syrah, 9% Mourvèdre, and 6% other varieties including Cinsault, Counoise, Vaccarèse, Terret Noir, Picpoul Noir, and Muscardin, from the Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC, Southern Rhône, France. Grapes are sourced from numerous lieux-dits across the appellation: Montalivet, La Crau, Les Blachières, Coste Froide, Bois Seneseau, Palestor, Bois Dauphin, Pied de Baud, Les Bousquets, Les Parrans, and Les Marines — covering soils of quartzite colluvium, marine clay, sand, molassic sandstone, and galets roulés. Taste Profile: A brilliant ruby colour introduces a nose of fresh cherry, raspberry, soft spices, and garrigue. The supple, harmonious palate delivers fine tannins and a juicy mid-palate with a long, delicately saline finish. Already approachable in its youth, this Châteauneuf exhales fresh red fruits with notes of spice and garrigue, with the complex, elegant palate revealing impressive freshness. Rated 96/100 by La Revue du Vin de France. A fine and vibrant vintage with beautiful ageing potential — the wines will be enjoyable in their youth but are built to truly reveal themselves over the long term Winemaking Process: Grapes undergo a 35-day maceration in concrete tanks with regular pump-overs and rack-and-returns. Press juice and free-run juice are aged separately before being assembled after several months. The wine is then aged in a combination of vat and foudre, with around 15% aged in oak. Each parcel and variety is vinified individually, with the final blend carefully assembled to reflect the full complexity of the estate's varied terroir
