Victorian Opal & Diamond Heart Cluster Necklace
DATE: Victorian, c.1870 & 1900 An extremely pretty pendant and chain dating from the late Victorian period. The pendant dating to the turn of the century, circa 1900, is a charming heart shaped opal surrounded by a cluster of sparkling old cut diamonds. The opal is fiery, displaying flashes of green, red, blue, orange and pink. The old cuts surround the centre stone perfectly, and they glisten gorgeously in their open worked settings and pierced gallery. The heart hangs freely from a diamond set bail, and it comes complete with a fine tubular linked 15 karat gold chain. The barrel clasp features floral engravings, has a wearable length of 18 inches and it dates to circa 1870.
