Encaustic, Silk, Organza Assembled 36" x 36" 2026 “Diary of the Tide” is constructed from layers of organza and encaustic, loosely stitched together to create a delicate, shifting surface. The transparency of the organza allows each layer to remain visible, while the encaustic adds structure, preserving subtle variations in texture and tone. The loose stitching acts as both a physical and conceptual thread—holding fragments together without fixing them too tightly, much like memory itself. The composition reads as a kind of visual record, capturing the fleeting colors, movements, and atmospheric qualities of a single moment along the shoreline. Soft transitions of color reflect the changing tides, the movement of water, and the interplay of light across its surface. Some areas feel suspended and airy, while others hold more density, echoing the rhythm of the ocean as it advances and recedes. Rather than depicting a specific place, the piece functions as a quiet archive—a diary entry translated into material.
