Unrestrained Two Truths Collection Can safety and freedom exist at the same time? Safety & Speed explores the paradox of two opposing forces living within the same object. A brass cuff incorporates seat belt material and a handcrafted brass safety pin, familiar symbols of protection and restraint. Suspended from the safety pin is a removable sterling silver pendant inspired by my time in Germany and the freedom of driving on the Autobahn. The pendant's symbol represents speed, movement, freedom, and the feeling of having nothing holding you back. Set against the language of safety, the two ideas collide: protection and risk, restraint and liberation, security and the desire to move freely. The pendant can be removed from the safety pin, allowing the wearer to experience the piece in different ways. This is a one of a kind sculptural artwork, handcrafted from brass, seat belt material, and non tarnish sterling silver.
