The cylindrical glass shade is enclosed by a substantial cast iron framework with scrolling iron details, pierced gallery, curved supports and conical metal canopy, suspended from a long iron stem. Decorative wrought-iron or cast-metal scrollwork flourishes sit symmetrically on opposite sides of the roof line, a hallmark of ornamental Victorian styling. Enclosure: A tall, seamless cylindrical glass globe protects the interior chamber while allowing maximum, unobstructed light output. The glass cylinder is cradled by a sturdy metal base ring, stabilized by small projecting metal feet or brackets at the very bottom.
