Jurassic Park (1993): Dilophosaurus 1/3 Scale Maquette

“I thought you were one of your big brothers. You’re not so bad.” Dennis Nedry In Jurassic Park, the Dilophosaurus is one of the dinosaurs bred by InGen for its park on Isla Nublar. It remains hidden during the visitors’ tour, only to emerge later that night as Dennis Nedry struggles to free his Jeep in the rain. Smaller than many of the park’s other predators, the Dilophosaurus initially appears curious and playful rather than threatening. The film’s Dilophosaurus features mottled green skin, two prominent crests, and a broad skull that gives it a distinctive raptor-like appearance. Its brightly colored neck frill unfolds and rattles like that of a frilled lizard when it prepares to attack. It can also spit venom, much like a spitting cobra, targeting its prey’s face to temporarily blind it before moving in for the attack. Nedry mistakes the creature’s curiosity for harmless behavior and tosses a stick, hoping it will chase after it. Instead, the Dilophosaurus follows him back toward the Jeep, suddenly opens its frill, and spits venom into his eyes. As Nedry struggles to reach the Jeep, the Barbasol can containing the stolen dinosaur embryos falls into the mud. He finally makes it into the driver’s seat, only to discover the Dilophosaurus waiting just inches away. Continuing to expand its collection for fans and collectors, Elite Creature Collectibles is proud to present the JP1 Dilophosaurus – 1/3 Scale Maquette from Jurassic Park, created in collaboration with ILM artist Bitan and ECC key artists Miyo Nakamura and Miranda Jory. Standing approximately 24.4 inches (62 cm) tall, this highly detailed maquette includes two interchangeable head-and-neck pieces, allowing collectors to display the Dilophosaurus with its frill folded or fully extended in an aggressive attack pose. The unused head-and-neck piece can be displayed separately on the included acrylic stand. The intricately detailed muddy display base recreates the setting of Nedry’s encounter, complete with a partially buried Barbasol can and the iconic East Dock direction sign. Each hand-painted resin maquette is individually numbered and includes a metal nameplate and a Certificate of Authenticity signed by all three artists.
