Haltech Nexus R5 Plug and Play VCU Kit for 2005-2013 C6 Corvette (LS2, LS3, LS7) A complete bolt-in standalone engine management upgrade for the 2005-2013 Chevrolet Corvette, including Z06 and Grand Sport. This kit pairs the Haltech Nexus R5 Vehicle Control Unit with a C6-specific plug and play harness and our pre-configured integration module. The factory instrument cluster, 6L80E or 6L90E automatic transmission, ABS, cruise control, and HVAC keep working exactly as they did from the factory while you gain full standalone tuning control over the engine. Developed and validated on a real C6 platform. The factory dashboard, gear indicator, and all cluster functions are preserved. Sport mode and paddle-shift behaviors, including the blocked-shift indicator and dash beep, work exactly as they should. Every kit includes a 1-hour Zoom setup session with our team covering base map loading, NSP software setup, and first-start procedures. You are never left figuring it out alone. What's in the box Haltech Nexus R5 VCU (HT-195000) C6-specific plug and play engine harness Pre-configured integration module for full chassis compatibility SurLok battery cable connectors (red and black) Wi-Fi antenna (RP-SMA, 108mm) USB-C programming cable and dust cap Mounting hardware and installation guide 1-hour Zoom session for base map loading and setup support Why this kit exists Most standalone ECU swaps on a C6 Corvette leave you with a running engine and a broken car. The cluster blanks out, the automatic transmission drops into limp mode, and fault codes stack up everywhere. The C6 relies on dozens of communication signals between modules, and they all disappear the moment the factory engine computer is removed. This kit handles that for you. The integration module ships pre-loaded with everything needed to keep the factory systems happy, so you can focus on tuning the LS instead of chasing electrical gremlins. Haltech Nexus R5 engine management features The Nexus R5 is Haltech's flagship Vehicle Control Unit. It combines a full engine management system, a power distribution module (PDM), a dual-channel wideband controller, onboard data logging, and Wi-Fi communications in one sealed enclosure, with the extra I/O headroom for serious race builds. Tuning and engine control Full sequential fuel and spark on the LS V8, with injector and ignition outputs to spare Drive-by-wire throttle control with redundant tracking Variable cam control for VVT-equipped engines (LS3 and LS7 supported) Dual channel knock control with synchronized digital filtering Closed-loop idle speed control with learning Per-bank closed-loop O2 control via the dual onboard wideband controllers (NTK and LSU4.9 supported) Modeled torque tables and 4D tuning tables with 3D per-cylinder compensations Multi-fuel support: gasoline, E85, methanol, ethanol, with flex fuel sensor input Closed-loop boost control by gear, road speed, time, or any user-defined channel Launch control, anti-lag, rolling anti-lag, and flat shift Haltech Traction Control with mappable per-axle or per-wheel slip targets Engine protection with multi-level limits on every sensor Nitrous control with up to 6 stages, wet or dry Auto-tune with short and long-term fuel and ignition learning Power distribution (PDM) 4 x 25A push-pull PWM-capable outputs for fuel pumps, fans, transbrakes, and other heavy loads 12 x 8A high-side outputs for sensors, accessories, and lights 4 x 8A H-bridge outputs for electronic throttle and motor control Replaces many traditional fuses and relays Live current draw logging on every output Software-configurable circuit protection Inputs and I/O 23 x analog voltage inputs (0-5V) with DBW redundancy 10 x synchronous pulsed inputs 2 x dedicated knock sensor inputs 2 x differential engine position inputs (trigger and home, reluctor or hall) 2 x onboard wideband lambda inputs 18 x peak/hold injector outputs 12 x ignition outputs 8 x digital pulsed outputs 3 x CAN buses Connectivity and logging USB-C laptop connection required for tuning and firmware updates Built-in Wi-Fi for live data monitoring and gauge mirroring while driving Onboard data logging at sample rates up to 1 kHz Compatible with Haltech IC-7 and IC-7 Color displays Tuned with NSP (Nexus Software Programmer), a free download from Haltech What still works after install Factory instrument cluster: tachometer, speedometer, gear indicator, all warning lights Driver Information Center (DIC) text displays Head-Up Display (HUD) on equipped cars Climate control and HVAC, including AC compressor request Power steering ABS (anti-lock braking) Cruise control (factory steering wheel switches read by the Nexus over CAN) Power windows, locks, anti-theft, and key recognition Radio, Bluetooth, and OnStar where present Turn signals, hazards, and exterior lighting What changes Traction control is now handled by the Haltech Nexus R5, which is a more capable and tunable system than the factory setup. Instead of fixed factory thresholds, you control per-wheel or per-axle slip targets, ramp rates, and intervention strategy. Traction control behavior can be mapped by gear, vehicle speed, or any logged channel. A basic Haltech traction control configuration is included in the base map for every kit, so the system is functional from the first start. Further refinement to match your tire size, power level, and intended use is part of your tune. 6L80E / 6L90E automatic transmission support This is where most aftermarket ECU swaps on an automatic C6 fall apart. The factory transmission needs specific data from the engine computer to make smooth shift decisions. Without it, the transmission goes to limp mode and shift quality falls off a cliff. This kit preserves full factory transmission behavior: Drive (D): normal automatic shifting on the factory schedule Sport (S): aggressive automatic shifting, no paddle input required Manual (paddle-engaged): tap a paddle from Sport for full driver control over gear selection Manual mode exits back to Sport-auto when the shifter moves back to Drive and then Sport, exactly as factory HUD and select-shift indicators (preserved) M-gear digit on the HUD when paddle-engaged (M1 through M6) Blocked-shift indicator with dash beep when the transmission refuses a paddle request, such as an upshift while stationary or a downshift at too high a speed Gear-shift highlight on the HUD that briefly emphasizes the new gear after each engagement, just like factory Responsive paddle feel: rapid taps update the HUD immediately while the transmission catches up, just like factory T56 and TR6060 manual transmission support For manual C6s, the integration is simpler: the Nexus R5 manages the engine, the integration module keeps the factory systems online, and the cluster shows tach, speedo, and warning lights normally. Reverse lockout and clutch switch inputs are wired through the Nexus. What you can use in your tune The Nexus R5 has access to chassis data the engine would not normally see, which opens up tuning strategies a basic standalone setup cannot do: True wheel-speed traction control: individual wheel speed inputs feeding the Haltech traction control system Boost by gear: actual transmission gear feeds your boost target tables directly Launch control with brake hold: brake input, wheel speed, and gear all available as triggers Gear-specific timing and fuel maps from accurate transmission gear input Sport vs Manual differentiation: separate maps for automatic Sport mode and paddle-engaged Manual mode Steering angle and lateral G inputs for advanced launch and traction strategies 1-hour Zoom setup session included Standalone ECUs have a learning curve. Rather than leaving you on your own, every kit includes a one-on-one Zoom call with our team to get you up and running quickly. The session typically covers: NSP software installation and connecting to your Nexus R5 Loading the correct base map for your engine and transmission combination Verifying sensor inputs (TPS, MAP, temperatures, wideband) First-start procedures and idle verification Walkthrough of the key tables for further tuning Q&A on your specific build Schedule your session after install, when you are ready to power up the system for the first time.
